The European Union has designated 2021 as the European Year of Rail. Throughout Europe, (online) events have been organised and there are initiatives to transport more goods by rail. This is one of the objectives of the European Green Deal. Transport by train is environmentally friendly and safe. It therefore has a major role to play in the EU’s efforts to become climate-neutral by 2050.
Route planning with the Rail Scout Wizard
To give companies more insight into the many possibilities of rail, a handy online tool is available, the Rail Scout Wizard. This is an online application that provides shippers (such as production and trading companies) who are considering transporting their goods by rail in the Netherlands or abroad with simple and fast information.
In short, this is how it works: in just 10 mouse clicks, users enter their type of cargo (e.g. pallet, container or reefer) and the start and delivery address of the cargo. Next, the system provides an extensive overview of the possibilities of door-to-door transport, the frequency of the ride and the distances and possible providers that can provide the transport for you.
